Models I work in

While I am trained in both traditional talk and cognitive behavioral therapies, over the past 11 years I have been drawn towards transformational psychotherapies, particularly Internal Family Service(IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). These models, with the right therapist, invite a deeper level of healing and change.

01

AEDP

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is a transformation-based approach that encourages healing new emotional and relational experiences.  We will focus on your present-moment experience, learning to feel safe enough together so we can do the emotional work you need to change and heal. At the heart of AEDP is “Undoing Aloneness,” and we learn to identify what is happening that gets in your way so you have the choice to end old patterns to do things differently.  Together, we will learn to make use of and expand your strengths & healing resources so that you can move through your life feeling more alive, less alone, and more deeply connected to yourself, others, and the world around you.

02

IFS

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based psychotherapy model that acknowledges that every person's personality is comprised of different parts having unique functions or jobs in your internal system. IFS posits that in addition to our parts, we all have a compassionate Self at the seat of our consciousness. Together we can gently develop a direct relationship between your Self and the parts of you that are well-intentioned but working in extreme ways, leading to anxiety, depression, self-criticism, impulsive/compulsive behaviors, relationship problems, or feeling stuck.

03

EMDR

Research over the past 30+ years has shown that Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective, transformative therapeutic approach that can be used to address a wide range of problems, including trauma - PTSD, anxiety disorders, addictive processes, obsessions/compulsions, phobias, mood disorders, and effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences.

EMDR helps your system reprocess by inviting critical parts of your brain to address past disturbing events, memories, sensations, thoughts and feelings so that they no longer affect your well-being today. I will work with you to identify and process unresolved experiences and current triggers.
